Ok I contacted Gregorys in regards to a VY shop manual. This is the email they sent me, Hello Snap, Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately we do not produce a book that covers your requirements. The Gregory's manuals are now produced (though we still print them) by a company named Haynes, where they will be able to advise on future editions or offer technical advice. You can contact Haynes on 03 9763 8100 or visit their website at where they also have an online ordering facility. Kind regards, Sales Universal Publishers Pty Limited 1 Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park NSW 2113 Toll Free Phone: 1800 021 987 Toll Free Fax: 1800 636 197 Great now there is no choice but to get the Holden genuine manual.
Gregorys Workshop Manual Vy Commodores
Those Haynes ones are shocking. Click to expand.Another problem with the VT-VY Ellery's manual is the lack of detail specific to the VY. The VY gets very little mention, apart from dismantling the centre dash assembly. Otherwise, it's all VT/VX and there were sufficient differences between those two models and the VY for the manual to be pretty useless in many areas. Suspension specs all relate to the early models, not the VY, wheel dimensions are wrong for VY, airbag removal for VY not covered at all, wiring diagrams are almost useless.
It's good for the basic mechanicals, suspension assemblies, brakes, etc, but if you want detailed VY (or VZ) material, the factory CD is the only way to go. I was told you can't get workshop manuals for the vy's by a holden dealership. I'm in the trade and have bought a lot of parts over the years through my local holden dealership in melbourne and they wouldn't even print out the wiring diagram for the radio aerial for me and i have mates that work there. I had to get our spare parts guy to ring a dealer in Queensland who he used to work with and butter them up just to get a fax sent down of the wiring diagram if you can get these workshop manuals on disc through holden now can you please let me know, i'll go and get one for my car.
