British Gas Alarm System Manual

British Gas Alarm System Manual Rating: 8,2/10 4747 reviews

I fit the DSC 832 & 1832 control panels as used by British Gas. And knowing the specific software that British Gas use (Specially written), I can tell you that opening the panel will cause it to need the engineer code. Yes they have thier vested interests sewn up. There are not many engineers that know the system in the UK., its from Canada. Thats why your thread is so popular.

Unfortunately your milles away from Nottingham, so I can't help. Obviously I can't just give you the code.

Even if I did, its not simple to reset some keypads (with scroll buttons & text ) are ok but the more common keypad gives fault codes in binary and the engineer code is protected by the master code also. I suggest you google local alarm companies & trawl their websites to find a company that can handle it. You code ask British Gas to come just once and get them to change the engineer code and re-programme it to customer reset for alarms & troubles. Check what they are prepared to do on a callout, before you agree to anything.

But in fairness to Bg and the industry in general, they are increasing your security by protecting engineering codes. Had you been closer I could have been more help, sorry & good luck.

Manual Alarm System

I recently moved into a house with a British Gas installed alarm. The Keypad is KP5501Z, the PCB in the control box is DSC and the EEProm has PC5015 V2.82BG written on.

The alarm is working in a basic mode i.e. You can arm it and disarm it satisfactorily.

I have the master code but not the installer code. The company that have taken over from British Gas will not give me the installer code. I have read through many threads in the forum, but still have some questions. My first problem is that when I try and enter installer programming, immediately after entering.8 I get a continuous error tone and no chance to enter the installer code (if I had it). I have disconnected battery and ac power to the control box and then reconnected them and I DO NOT hear the 10 clicks signifying a locked system. If I were to go for the master reset option (PGM1 Zone1 link power cycle etc.) would this remove the block after the.8 key entry as well?

Thanks for any guidance. I'm not very familiar with the 5015, I've only ever seen one or two but it is basically just a 5010 with a few different options. Entry into programming of a 5010 will not be allowed if a partition is armed (both panels are 2 partition systems). Even if a second partition is not really in use, it could be created and then armed for the sole purpose of preventing programming entry. Try holding # until it beeps and the keypad should go blank; then hold 1 or 2 until it beeps. Singer ultralock 14sh654. This procedure forces the keypad to 'log on' to partition 1 or 2.

Feb 21, 2014 - The yellow trouble light indicates a system problem of some sort. To find out the cause of the trouble light, press *2 on your keypad.

If either one comes up armed, try your code to disarm. As for the installer code, it is unlikely that any company would divulge their code to you. IMHO, they should, assuming you own the equipment and have no obligation to them, reprogram the installer code to default or a number of your choosing. Experience tells me that they will be reluctant to do even that.

As there is no clicking or chattering from the relay on power up, the master reset/default/PGM1-Zn1 option should work for you. This is assuming that there is not some European 'feature' that would prevent this. This means that you must completely reprogram the panel, but it sounds like you have a pretty good understanding of the manual and we're always here to help. Hi Static, Thanks for your reply, I appreciate the 'European' issue may be a problem.

However, I tried your suggestions. Holding the # followed by the 1 seems to do nothing, the keypad reverts to normal Ready state. However, # followed by 2 is different. After holding the 2, it beeps and the 'programming' icon appears on the right of the display. It does not respond to any key presses, neither does triggering a PIR show on the display (normally brings up the 'open door' icon).

The only way I found to get out of this was to wait for approx a minute or so and it goes back to ready. Or hold # until it beeps, the 'programming' icon disappears but all leds are out and still unresponsive.

After the timeout for the backlight on the display, the ready led comes on and it is back to normal. Not sure if this is good or bad?! Hi, I have the KP5501Z keypad that does not have arrow keys.

However I checked out 'enable DLS' in the Installation Manual and you can enable it with. 6 master code 5.

After doing this it does accept a code after. 8. Thanks very much for that - all I have to do now is go through all the possible codes. The manual states that the 'Enable DLS' allows 'downloading' for a one hour window. After this time will the keypad revert to not allowing a code after. 8?

There are additional functions available after. 6 master code (e.g. View event buffer) that are not directly accessible and require the use of the 'arrow keys' to scroll through the options. Does anyone know how to 'get at' the 'arrow keys' on the KP5501Z keypad?
